It all started in 1972 when Josef Janča, a freshly out-of-school copper fitter from Brno, came as an apprentice to a heating installing enterprise in Uherský Brod.

1989
We were at the right place at the right time
The first distilleries in Czechoslovakia began to be established before 1989 and Josef Janča was at the right place at the right time. During the period of the previous regime, he and his colleagues built about 200 grower stills and various copper kettles, while he gradually worked his way up to a foreman and later director of the Kovoděl plant.
1994
Struggle for survival
After the 1989 revolution, the original company was teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, so in 1994 he and two partners decided to buy it out to save whatever remained from the production.
2001
Family business
The company was successful and kept growing. In 2001, Josef Janča bought out his two partners and the company Kovoděl Janča was founded. Three sons gradually joined the family business and expanded the premises, the number of employees and the product range to its present form.
We took the knowledge and experience from our grandfathers, fathers and uncles. Literally every one of our products is an original, bears the handprint of our metalworkers and boasts a distinctive design.
